Young Professionals to Collect Supplies this Saturday at Wal-Mart

At the end of last year, the Barton County Young Professionals group closed out 2012 by donating a large heap of food and over $100 to the Barton County food bank. That project was a good warm-up for the group’s charity supply drive taking place this Saturday, January 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Bend Wal-Mart Supercenter.

“The Young Professionals group is designed to provide networking opportunities, develop young leaders in today’s workforce, and engage members to give back to our communities,” says YP Steering Committee Chair Kristy Straub. “All the supplies we collect will be donated to the Catholic Social Service non-food pantry that helps people in need in Barton County.”

The Catholic Social Service non-food pantry accepts donations of laundry detergent, dish soap, diapers, paper goods, and any other non-perishable household items. Members of the Young Professionals group will be passing out flyers at Wal-Mart this Saturday to encourage shoppers to purchase these types of supplies for donation as they leave the store.

The Barton County Young Professionals group is targeted for anyone 21-40ish who lives or works in the Barton County area. Membership is free, and includes lots of perks such as discounts around town, invites to social and professional networking events, free leadership training, and opportunities to get involved in the community.
